Who we share your data with

Xapnik does not share your data with anyone.

Xapnik strives to store as little personal information about our users as possible. We’re not in the business of selling information about our users.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

We engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to us, including, without limitation, hosting and maintenance, billing, customer relationship, database storage and management, and direct marketing campaigns. We will share your personally identifiable information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these functions and provide such services, and only pursuant to binding contractual obligations requiring such third parties to maintain the privacy and security of your data.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Your contact information

Xapnik retains only the email addresses of subscribers for contact purposes. It is never shared with outside parties, however it may be stored with third-party services that we use to send email communications to you.

Additional information

How we protect your data

Personal information such as your email address and authorization keys from social media networks, if retained in Xapnik’s database, is encrypted.

What data breach procedures we have in place

In the event of a data breach Xapnik will immediately upon becoming aware of such breach (1) inform all subscribers via email, (2) inform all users via a notice within the Xapnik platform, (3) invalidate all authorization keys from social media networks, (4) implement a thorough investigation into the source of the data breach and put preventive measures into place as soon as possible.

What third parties we receive data from

Xapnik receives an authorization token from a third party service when you give Xapnik permission to access limited information about your account with that service. Currently those third parties include Twitter, Instagram and Disqus, but we expect to continually add services of this kind to the platform.

Xapnik receives non-sensitive information from our payments provider, Stripe, about your method of payment when you subscribe and about your payment history as a subscriber.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

Xapnik currently does not engage in any form of profiling or decision making based upon user data profiling.
